What to Worry About in a Home Inspection (and What to Ignore)
3 min read
Every house has something. The inspection report will look scary the first time you read it, because inspectors note everything, including the cosmetic and the trivial. Here's how to read it like a pro.
What to actually worry about: the structure, the roof, the foundation, major systems like HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, water intrusion, and anything that signals an expensive surprise down the road.
What to mostly ignore: a loose outlet cover, a dripping faucet, a sticky door, minor cosmetic wear. Those are normal and cheap.
My role at the inspection is to help you separate the real concerns from the noise, so you negotiate on what matters and don't walk away from a good home over things a handyman fixes in an afternoon.
